Patrick Estrada, 56, a meat cutting specialist, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Saturday, January 2, 2010 in Arlington, Texas.
Patrick was born on March 17, 1953 to Joaquin and Belen Estrada in Newton, Kansas where he was raised, attended school and graduated from NHS.
He married Cindy Phares and they started and raised their family in Newton. He worked at Prestressed Concrete for 18 years as a Quality Control Supervisor. Then in 1997 they moved to New Jersey where he continued his career in construction as a quality control supervisor. In 2000 they moved to Grand Prairie, TX where he had a career as a meat cutting specialist. He worked for Albertson's Grocery and Sam's Club. He had recently embarked on a new career journey and was taking courses to become a medical coding specialist.
Patrick loved music and was a gifted musician with the talent to play guitar and sing. He would sing for many family and friends' weddings , as well as singing for his church and other special occasions. Always a loving grandfather, he enjoyed spending his time with his grandchildren. He especially loved teaching softball skills to his granddaughters. He was a fan of UFC and would take time to enjoy events with his sons.
Survivors: children Heather Ulrich (Bruce), Eric Estrada (Rachel), Aaron Estrada; 7 grandchildren; siblings Ramona Sandoval, Stanley Estrada, Albert Estrada, Midge DeWitt, Denise Estrada and Belen Sanchez; the mother of his children Cindy Phares Estrada and companion Linda Darlene Goodwin. He was preceded in death by his parents Joaquin and Belen, sister Paula and infant brother Felix.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m.. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home, 107 S. Lancaster, Hesston, Kansas. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Our Lady of Guadalupe church in Newton, Kansas. Burial: Private.
